Biography: Mitchell J. Birzon is the founder and managing partner of Birzon, Strang & Associates. A graduate of Georgetown University and the New England School of Law, he formerly served as an attorney in the United States House of Representatives and as senior federal legal Counsel to a Governor.
Mitch returned to his native New York and entered private practice in 1985. At Birzon, Strang & Associates, his practice concentrates on corporate, commercial, healthcare and transactional law including mergers and acquisitions and private equity financing opportunities for upstart and existing business enterprises and healthcare practices and facilities. Under his leadership, the firm maintains a policy whereby the partners of the firm remain dedicated to and participate in every aspect of each client’s concerns from inception to trial or settlement.
A recognized leader in the Long Island legal community, he is a three-time Chairman of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Health and Hospital Law Committee, has been appointed to the SCBA Grievance Committee and serves as counsel to other members of the legal profession. In both 2000 and 2009, he was a recipient of the Award of Recognition by the SCBA for his contribution of time, effort and exemplary service to the Pro Bono Project.
Deeply committed to the communities in which he lives and practices, Mitch has previously served on the Board of Directors of Gurwin Geriatric Center, Long Island Adolescent & Family League Services, and Syosset Senior Daycare Center. He is currently a Board member of Harbor Country Day School in Suffolk County. Under his leadership, the firm has made a commitment to community service giving time to a long list of charitable, civic, religious, educational, and professional organizations such as “1 in 9”, The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition, The Scleroderma Foundation, Parents for Megan’s Law, St. Patrick Church, Save-a-Pet, and others.
